Forest Bathing: a slow, guided, structured walk in the grounds of Margaret Aylward Centre
This event is an opportunity to slow down, stop the busy-ness, and take in the beautiful, natural surroundings of the grounds. Tom Larkin will guide a Forest Bathing ‘walk,’ offering invitations to help participants engage easily with their immediate environment. There will be time for sitting and time for sharing.
People who follow this practice appreciate that it is physically, psychologically and spiritually beneficial to spend time ‘bathing’ in the atmosphere of the forest. There has been a lot of research to show the wide range of emotional, psychological and physical benefits of forest bathing.
‘Forest Bathing’ or Forest Therapy is a practice originating in Japan in the early 1980s. It is a contemplative, relational practice that brings us into deeper intimacy with natural places while at the same time supporting every aspect of our well-being.
Tom, who lives locally, is an accredited guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs. He is also an accredited psychotherapist and Focusing trainer.
