In May, we teamed up with Jane Mellett, a Laudato Si Officer with Trocaire, to offer a book club on the fifth anniversary of the publication of this groundbreaking document. Little did we realise the partnership we had created!
The Margaret Aylward Centre has collaborated with Jane on 4 projects this year:
The Laudato Si Book Club, which was a great opportunity for those ‘in the field’ across Ireland to gather, read and discuss the document that has inspired them, and to look for ways ahead. Jane has created a great series of presentations from this which groups can use locally on request.
The Laudato Si ‘Love Letter to the Earth’ online concert to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the publication of Laudato Si. A wonderful collection of artists, speakers and activists came together to share the good news and inspire us to action. Watch Here
A book club with Dermot Lane on his new book ‘Theology and Ecology in dialogue: the wisdom of Laudato Si’. A fantastic opportunity to unpack Dermot’s important contribution to this conversation as we explored how every aspect of our theology and faith was, and is, directly impacted by the work of living Laudato Si.
A series of conversation with Donal Dorr based on his new book ‘A new creed for today’, which offered space for reflection and conversation on key themes in his writing. 4 weeks became 5, and many hope for more in the new year! A very successful and encouraging process to be involved with .
We are grateful to Jane and the Laudato Si Working Group, whose members have been key to these offerings. This work is our ongoing work as Christians, so we look forward to what the future holds.
