This year was like no other so of course our plans at the Margaret Aylward Centre were different too. We very much missed welcoming Sr Hilda and the Golden Wonders from Coombe for their annual party and we look forward to a time when we can again hear the lovely Past Pupils choir led by Marie Dunne singing Advent and Christmas Carols for us.
Two lovely evenings offered a great lift – Jane Mellett joined Nóirin to host an Advent reflection on ‘Following the Star’ which invited us to ‘come home a different way’. Then Deirdre Ní Chinnéide, accompanied by Marie Dunne, led us on a pre-Christmas reflection ‘Resting in the Light’
Winter Candle
We light this candle for our Winter hearts,
For the season when darkness covers the land.
For all that rests beneath the frozen ground.
For the hope that waits in our own iced in spaces.
For the long emptiness when our faith is made strong.
May our winter stories rise up and bless us
Reminding us of the light that shines on in the darkness
It was a lovely end to a busy year, and we are grateful that we could gather, if only online. We really look forward to being able to meet in person again soon.
